Matcha is a green powder tea. During production, a special technique is used which involves shading the tea plants from direct sunlight in the weeks before harvest. This leads to an increased production of chlorophyll and L-theanine in the leaves and consequently to an increased amount of antioxidants and catechins. When we drink Matcha we consume the whole leaves of green tea and because of that we add much more nutrients to the body than when we drink regular tea. Shortly after harvest, the leaves are steamed and dried and then stone ground in traditional mills to a fine powder.

Our matcha is grown in the Uji region of Kyoto, known for its cultivation of the highest quality green tea for over 800 years. The Uji region is known for its fresh soils and clean water. It is then processed locally in Japan and shipped in small quantities to ensure that the leaf maintains its qualities and high levels of minerals and antioxidants.
